Our process

One contract. One point of contact.

From the free quote to the final walkthrough, Island Strong runs the job: the schedule, the crew, the trade partners, the permits and inspections, and the questions.

Four steps

01

Tell us the job

Use the quote form or call 236-638-5302. Say what needs doing, where, and roughly when. Photos help.

02

Free site visit, written quote

Dezmond comes out, looks at the job and writes the quote: what is fixed, what is an allowance, and what could change once walls open.

03

We schedule and manage it

One contract with Island Strong. We line up our crew and trade partners, book the permits and inspections the job needs, and keep you posted.

04

Final walkthrough

We walk the finished job with you and go through the deficiency list together before we call it done.

Step two, in detail

What goes in a Island Strong quote

A quote you can hold us to is a quote with the guesswork written down. Ours sets out:

  • The scope, room by room or element by element.
  • What is a fixed price and what is an allowance, with the allowance amount.
  • What could change once walls, floors or roofing come off, and how that would be priced.
  • Who does what: our crew, and which licensed trade partners.
  • Which permits and inspections the job needs, and who pulls each one.

During the build

You talk to one person

Dezmond quotes the job and manages it. When a trade partner is on site, they are working for Island Strong, under our schedule and our standards.

  • One contract with Island Strong, not one per trade.
  • Changes are priced and agreed in writing before the work is done.
  • Inspections are booked into the schedule so a trade is not waiting on one.

The kind of work

From first visit to walkthrough

Stock photos of the work we quote. Our own job photos replace them as projects finish.

House interior stripped to new wood stud framing, with lumber on the subfloor
Finished basement with tile floor, stairs and a glass door to the outside
Close-up of weathered cedar shakes on a roof
Hands tying a steel rebar cage

Built for the coast

Built for the coast.

Coast weather finds every gap. Rain, wind-driven water, salt air and moss go to work on roofs, siding, decks and foundations, and a lot of houses here were built long before anyone talked about rainscreen walls.

So every job we quote starts with one question: where does the water go? Then we price the work to keep it out.

  • Flashing and rainscreen details on siding, window and door work
  • Perimeter drains and grading checked before a basement gets finished
  • Deck framing protected, not just new boards on old joists
  • Pre-1990 house: asbestos testing built into the schedule before demolition
