Every municipality on these pages runs its own permit office and writes its own tree, suite and energy rules. In Port Coquitlam, a tree needs a permit from 15 cm in diameter. In the City of Langley, the significant-tree rule starts at 75 cm.

Greater Victoria covers the core municipalities, from Victoria and Oak Bay out to Langford, Colwood and Central Saanich. Vancouver Island covers Nanaimo, the Cowichan Valley, Courtenay and Campbell River. Metro Vancouver runs from Vancouver and the North Shore to Surrey, Langley and Maple Ridge.
