What we do

Small jobs go further when they’re batched. Write the list before you ask anyone for a price.

Option 01

Fixes and patching

A sticking door, a loose railing, a cracked tile, soft trim at the bottom of a window. Batched, they make one good visit instead of four short ones.

Option 02

Installs and minor carpentry

A new shelf, a fence board that’s let go, small carpentry. The quote says how we charge, whether there’s a minimum and how materials are billed.

Option 03

Lists with trade work

Some items belong to someone else. Wiring or gas goes to a licensed trade partner under our management, and we tell you which items before work starts.

Our process

How the job runs

01

Free visit, written quote

Walk us through the list. We price it in writing, say how materials are billed and flag anything that needs a licensed trade.

02

Batch and schedule

We group the jobs into as few visits as the list allows, and book a licensed trade partner for any wiring or gas items.

03

The work

Our crew works through the list. In a pre-1990 house, old materials get tested before anyone cuts drywall or lifts old flooring.

04

Final walkthrough

We go down the list with you, item by item, and point out anything that suggests a bigger problem behind it.

Built for the coast

The small jobs an old coast house hands you

On an older Island or Vancouver house, the list often looks familiar: a door that sticks every winter, soft trim at the bottom of a window, a gutter that overflows at one corner, a fence board that’s let go. We fix each one.

If the same spot keeps coming back, something bigger may be going on behind it, usually water. A soft sill that returns every year may be a siding or envelope job, and our siding page explains what to ask.

What needs a licence

Regulated electrical and gas work is off limits to an unlicensed handyman; Technical Safety BC says only qualified individuals employed by licensed contractors can do it. Wiring or gas on your list goes to a licensed trade partner under our management. Asbestos-containing materials need licensed people too, so in a pre-1990 house we test before anyone cuts drywall or lifts old flooring.

BC doesn’t license renovators or handymen, so no licence covers general repairs. Ask any contractor about liability insurance and WorkSafeBC coverage; a WorkSafeBC clearance letter confirms a business is registered and paying its premiums.

  • Wiring or gas on the list: licensed trade partner.
  • Pre-1990 house: test before disturbing old materials.
  • Ask for a WorkSafeBC clearance letter.

Questions to ask any contractor

Ask us these too.

  1. Do you carry liability insurance and WorkSafeBC coverage?
  2. Which parts of my list need a licensed electrician, plumber or gas fitter?
  3. Do you charge hourly or by the job, and is there a minimum?
  4. Do you supply materials, and with what markup?
  5. Can you give me two recent local clients I can contact?

Handyman & small repairs: common questions

Not regulated electrical work, unless they’re a qualified person employed by a licensed electrical contractor. Technical Safety BC sets that rule. On our jobs, wiring goes to a licensed electrical partner.

No general licence exists for renovators or handymen; the CHBA of BC proposed one in April 2026. Electrical, gas and asbestos work all require licensed people.

In a pre-1990 house, test first. WorkSafeBC says anyone you hire to deal with asbestos must be licensed for that work in BC.

We price your actual list, free, after a site visit, in a written quote. The number of items, the materials and whether any need a licensed trade drive the cost.
