Heat pumps & HVAC
What we do
Sizing comes first. A room-by-room heat load calculation shows how much heat each space loses on a cold day, and that number drives the equipment.
Option 01
Ductless mini-split
A head mounted in each zone, with no ductwork. As of October 2026, BC Hydro’s rebate rules require multi-split or central systems in homes over 1,200 sq ft.
Option 02
Ducted heat pump
A central system on new or existing ductwork, often replacing a furnace or switching a house off oil or gas. House size can decide between ducted and ductless.
Option 03
Heat pump water heater
A heat pump unit in place of the hot water tank. We check the space, and whether the electrical panel can take the new load, before we quote.
Our process
How the job runs
01
Free visit and heat load
We look at the house, what heats it now and the electrical panel, then quote in writing from a room-by-room heat load calculation.
02
Permits and rebate check
The licensed electrical and gas trades pull their permits before work starts. We set the schedule and tell you which rebate, if any, your setup may qualify for.
03
The install
Licensed trade partners do the electrical and gas work under our management, with the permit pulled by the licensed trade. If the panel can’t take the load, that upgrade is in the same job.
04
Final walkthrough
We walk the system with you, go through the controls and check what it delivers at -5°C against the quote.

Built for the coast
Coast winters and your fuel source
BC Hydro’s whole-home test is whether the heat pump meets 100% of the heating load at -5°C. We tell you what your system delivers at that temperature, because it affects comfort on the coldest nights and, as of October 2026, which rebate applies.
Your current fuel matters. As of October 2026, the rebates for a house on electric baseboards and a house on gas or oil look very different. Tell us what heats your home now, and check the program pages yourself before you sign.
Licensed trades, permits and rebates
Technical Safety BC says electrical and gas work on a heat pump or furnace must be done by licensed contractors under permit, and gasfitters and electricians also need trade certification. On our jobs that work is done by licensed trade partners under our management, with the permit pulled by the licensed trade.
Rebates, as of October 2026: the BC Hydro and CleanBC Home Renovation Rebate covers heat pumps that replace a primary all-electric system, with a larger rebate when the heat pump meets 100% of the home’s heating load at -5°C. A Home Performance Contractor Network member must do the install, and self-installs don’t qualify. Income-qualified rebates under the CleanBC Energy Savings Program were cut from July 6, 2026, for homes heated by oil, propane or gas. The federal Greener Homes Grant and Loan are closed, and the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability program stopped taking applications on July 31, 2026. Check the BC Hydro and CleanBC program pages before you rely on any of this.

Questions to ask any contractor
Ask us these too.
- Is the installer an HPCN member or CleanBC-registered contractor, so I qualify for the rebate?
- Will you do a room-by-room heat load calculation?
- Which unit are you quoting, and is it on the rebate-eligible list?
- Does my electrical panel need an upgrade, and who does it?
- Who submits the rebate paperwork, and by when?
